Why has my phone speaker started making a static noise?

My phone speaker has earlier today started to make a static noise with no other side coming through. if you have it on silent it makes a high pitch sound. it works fine with headphones. I have a galaxy J6

Most likely damaged hardware. Try booting up into safe mode and see if that makes it go away, but chances are it won't...
