Why is access denied to /storage/ (internal and external memory)?

Hello,

On my tablet (rooted) all the internal memory and external SD card are not accessible anymore. So I can not launch most applications.


In command line from the tablet: cd /storage and ls gives "opendir failed: permission denied". Idem for /sdcard.


But in root after su, it's accessible. And also with ADB (even not root this time).

So the problem is only with the tablet and the normal user which can not access to the internal and external memory.


I think the app "GL to SD (root)" is the source of the problem, but I don't know how.
What can I do to recover access to the memory?

I have a LG G pad 7 with Android 5.02.

With "LG Root Script" by avicohh, but I just said it's rooted to precise it. It's not linked to the denied access to storage, my tablet is rooted for months.

If the app made an error in the mapping, that could be the reason why. To make sure...this is your device: LG G Pad 7.0 - Full tablet specifications

Yes this is my device. The mapping?

I restart the tablet several times since it was rooted. The problem is certainly with the app "GL to SD", which make like "SD Fix" to access the whole SD card by modifying the file /etc/permissions/platform.xml. It may also have mounted some directories but this should not be definitive....
Now this file is correct with correct permissions but this was not the case when the problem happens first.

But I'm not sure... maybe something else now block access to /storage. :-|

Well, anytime you start screwing around with the partition mappings and permissions, you run the risk of causing some nasty issues. Unless you have a custom recovery and made a backup prior to modifying the system, your only option might be to track down how to reload the factory image on the tablet.

Does the app have any kind of recovery function or mode to fix permissions?

Make sure, in platform.xml, there's a rw access line for "everyone". Most apps leave that one out.

The stupid app does that without asking but make a backup. So the file is correct, even the modified one is usable, a lot of people do the modification.

Is it even possible that platform.xml can deny access to both memory?

I attach my file platform.xml, but I'm pretty sure there is no problem with it.

Possible since it is a root permission. If not can reflash the stock images, that would probably be best.

I think the problem is the file platform.xml is not read at all.
Because I also can activate Wifi or Bluetooth, but I can not use them, and in command line only root can ping (this is defined is platform.xml too).

Maybe the 1st boot with the wrong permissions makes this file been deleted from another file and it's not read at boot... How can I know where this file is called to verify this? :-|
