Why is Facebook truncated on the sides? Why are there gray bars on the sides?

[Android Central Question]

This happens when I browse Facebook, but not when I look at groups or reminders. The gray bars are vertical on my 8" Android tablet and roughly 3/16 " wide.

Display issue - newsfeed cropped at right edge

Hello,
(Sent this to the fb app support email address a few weeks ago but got no reply)

I have an odd display problem with my Facebook app - the newsfeed posts are cut off at the right edge, not wrapping correctly - it happens in both landscape and portrait. See attached screenshots. I've already tried reinstalling the app and restarting the device but the problem persists. This isn't an issue on my other device.
The device is a Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 8" (SM-T713) running Android v7.0, security patch July 2019.
I hope you can help.

I merged what I'm pretty sure are duplicate threads.

Have you tried clearing the FB app's cache/data in Settings>Apps?
