Why is Google Messages so limited in terms of customization/features?

Pulse SMS has it all (private messages, scheduling, delayed sending, pin contacts, mute & snooze texts, etc.). But gave it up after years for Messages and RCS. So really need the little things. Like a Delete link in the notification (duh!), a delete in the swipe (Really Google, left or right swipe only archives c'mon!). The rest above that Pulse has, probably years away...

I like the clean and minimal look of the app but theres very little you can change inside the app. No color changes is a little annoying. Also, you cant change with the swipe function does on a conversation. You swipe left or right and both of them ask if you want to archive the conversation. You cant switch it to have one "delete"? Edge lighting doesnt work with it??? I cant schedule a text?????

It would be nice to see Google Messages including schedule messages. Schedule Messages are available on Samsung devices for quite a long time now... Hope they bring this update soon.

The only thing that i believe is critical is the ability to change font size. My wife won't use it because the text size is too small. Colors would be nice, but I don't consider that critical.

I was using Messages instead of Textra to take advantage of RCS and one thing that drove me nuts is that if I clicked a notification to read one message and the message opened the app, all of my notifications for unread text messages would disappear even though within the app they still showed as unread. I'd forget to go back and look at the other unread items because they no longer were in my notifications. Textra only marks the one read and leaves the other notifications in your panel until you read that specific one.
Maybe I was missing some setting, but I surely was missing lots of messages.

The message sent sound should only play once the text is actually sent. They copy everything else from Apple messages, why can't they copy this? The sent sending-sent swoosh in Apple messages is great.

Message scheduling needs to be added too. Would also like to see some floating bubble animations like Textra and iMessage.

Repeated notifications and rolling out RCS to more countries (Australia please) finish off my list

Many of you are requesting scheduled messaging. How do you all use this feature? I've never used it.

I want to like Google messages, but it lacks so many features in comparison to Samsung messages and Textra. Most comparisons to these two have already been listed here by others, but I would like to add that not being able to adjust text size is one of the main reasons I don't use it.
It also doesn't wake up my lock screen and I can't pin or schedule messages. So it really isn't as useful to me as it should be for a Google product
So, I'll just continue to use Textra and occasionally Samsung messages for now.

Yep! I don't always have my glasses handy and I can't read the messages at all without them on Google messages. I'm blind as a bat, apparently.

You don't know how many times I've screenshotted messages b/c I couldn't tell what the emoji was. LOL

Are you asking what purpose do we use it for or actually how do we do it ? Sorry I'm having a slow day. Lol

I know what it does and how to use it. I've just never figured out an instance when I would. I thought some examples of how others use it may help me find a use for it myself.

Ok got it. Since I work over night 7p-7am I sometimes need to tell people things , but I don't want text them in the middle of the night or too early in the morning. So I'll schedule the text for the next morning at a time when I know they are awake.

Good reason!

That is considerate of you!

Does Google's or Samsungs messaging app let you do that
