Why is Google Messages so limited in terms of customization/features?

Ok got it. Since I work over night 7p-7am I sometimes need to tell people things , but I don't want text them in the middle of the night or too early in the morning. So I'll schedule the text for the next morning at a time when I know they are awake.
That's what I use it for. Great to sit there early in the morning and reply to a text that won't go out until 8 or 9 in the morning. If I didn't have that I would have to try and remember to reply at an appropriate time during the day which I might forget to respond. I won't use an messaging app that doesn't have scheduling. I use it all the time.

I hope Google will do some serious work on this matter since with Messages they've really got the last chance to make something out of their chat experiments through the years. Messages with: link to chat (something like: chat.me/-mobile number-), integration with Gmail chat (Hangouts), incognito chat (as with Allo), better group's administration (take an example from Telegram here), polls and a few other small things and they are closed to be perfect.
