Why is Google's app draining my battery so much?

Hi there!

Recently, my phone's (Samsung Galaxy S6) battery has been going down quicker than usual. I looked at the battery usage in my phone's settings, and the actual Google app (not Google Play Services) is top of the list, and has been for around 2 weeks now. I've disabled "OK Google" detection, uninstalled Chrome, disabled Hangounts and prevented syncing for a lot of Google's products under the "accounts" settings. I've had no luck though - Google is still top of the list.

Has anyone else had this problem, or does anyone know how to push Google back down? I'm running the latest version of the app too.

Thanks!

My drain is Google Services. I use Verizons Phone administrator (in case phone is lost) and also have Call Detector. Situation is: If Android Device Manager is on I CANNOT use Call Detector. IF Android Device Manager is off I get a huge battery drain by Google Services. Cannot find a solution to this at all. I also have all Google junk either disabled and/or sync turned off.

I'm having this EXACT issue. The Google Play Store is draining my battery, NOT services.

Yesterday at the start of my day I had this:

Even then you can see that in only an hour and a half 10% has been drained.

A mere 10 hours later we had this:

Google play store has now drained 65% MORE battery for a whopping total of 75%.

My phone literally sat on my desk while I worked for 99% of my day. I got a few text messages, but not much else.
I have even tried going in with Package Disabler Pro and disabled the Play Store and the batter drain continues.
When I first started having the problem, I would reboot my phone and it would clear the problem. Now it just keeps happening.

Does anyone have any ideas? I've searched far and wide and all I can find is people having issues with play services, which doesn't even get on my list of battery drains most of the time.

Is there a better or more detailed way to see exactly what is draining the battery? I'm wondering if some other app is using the play store and it's not really the play store causing the drain (supported by the fact that disabling the store did not stop the drain).

..... :-\ Wouldn't you know.... I installed Wakelock Detector... and Got Wakelock detector running properly....... and today.... it's almost 11 and I"m still at 94% battery power!!

Grumble.... I was going to locate and kick this issues rear, but apparently it's hiding. I've had this massive drain for weeks now and as soon as I setup to figure out what's doing the damage it stops??? Hmmmm......

Just an update: ever since I've upgraded to Marshmallow, the problem has decreased somewhat...it's still quite high in the list though. I found that adjusting the permissions each app uses in Marshmallow has some benefits. If I find anything I'll post!
