Why is My Android set top box lagging after sleep?

After using my Android TV set top box and putting it to sleep, when I wake it up again, it starts lagging a lot. I tried everything to solve the problem including speed booster app, clear memory, virus scan and reset all apps. The only thing that stops the lag is to reboot the whole thing, and this problem often occurs after I have used the youtube app to watch a lot of videos and put the device to sleep.
So how can I fix this frustrating problem?

I found a temporary fix, which is to put the device to sleep while an app is running, then upon waking it up, put it to sleep again for 2 minutes, then wake it up again and it runs smoothly.
