Why is my battery percentage going down instead of up while charging?

It started two days ago when I noticed the percentage going down instead of up while on the charger some days it'll charge fine the next it's messing back up what's going on how can I fix this?

Welcome to the forums. Have you already tried using a different wall charger and cable? If the problem persists maybe the battery is starting to fail. How old is your phone? Can you remove the battery and replace it for a new one?

I've noticed that this happens to me when I don't use the original charger for my LG V10 and don't have it plugged into the wall. Even if I use the same cord, if I plug it into a car port, computer, etc. rather than charging, it just slows the rate that the battery drains. Try using the original charger for your phone and plug it into the wall.
