Why is my galaxy note 9 randomly switching from sound to vibrate without my input?

Brand new galaxy note 9. About 1-2 times a day, the phone randomly switches from sound to vibrate. I am not touching the phone when it happens. I have tried a soft reset. I’ve missed important calls because of this. Any suggestions appreciated...
