Why is my Galaxy S4 all of a sudden running out of space?

I just got the Samsung Galaxy S4 two days ago. I do have a few things installed, but space hadn't been a problem. Then today I get a notification that I'm running out of space, so I go look at the storage and Miscellaneous Files is taking up over 6GB. I tap on it and there's 11 things showing up, none of them take up over a gigabyte.

I tried CCleaner, and it's removing under 100MB. I tried Power Booster, and that didn't make much of a difference either. I was planning on getting a microSD card for extra space, but come on, an extra 6GB doesn't just come out of the blue.

What's going on?

Try a factory reset and see if that helps. Also apps gather a lot of cache and background data also so inspect all of your apps and see if that's the case.

A factory reset will help - like cutting your head off to cure a headache. It works, but it's kind of drastic. (A factory reset removes all your data and ll your installed apps.)

I don't know which "power booster" you used, but most of them deal with the battery, not storage.

Miscellaneous is the data your apps store - settings, game levels, etc. You won't see the data stored by system apps unless you're rooted.

Try Low on Space? Dump logcat.

Also, while you're looking at storage, look at Cache. If there's any appreciable amount in there, tap it and clear it.

I haven't even installed all the apps I had on my old iPod- which was 16GB like my new Galaxy S4. I still had 1GB left of space on there and I've had the S4 for 2 days and now it's only got 500MB left of space... that's why I'm really confused.

I did try to get support from Samsung chat and they told me to delete cache per app, but when I tried all the apps said only 12KB to be cleared.
