I only charge when its dead or almost dead but i keep it on till battery is full

That's bad practice. Allowing the battery to discharge in that way will shorten its life, which may be what has happened in your case. It's best to recharge at 40-50%, and to charge to 100%.

Where did you get this from?
The common way to strech battery life is to let it get nearly empty and only then charge it to full, this way you minimize the # of charging times, which is related to battery life.

If it was a nicad, yes. But not in a li ion, such as in the s5..
