Why is my Galaxy S5 G900V Dialer unresponsive during calls?

Re: Galaxsy S5 G900V Dialer Unresponsive During Calls!!

I recently switched from Verizon to T-mobile and had the same problem on multiple lines. I also noticed that it happened almost always when I was at home, but almost never when I was at work 20 miles away. I called T-Mobile and here is a list of solutions we tried:
1. Turn off keypad tones. Phone > Settings > Call > Ringtones and Keypad tones. This solutions might work, but it didn't solve the problem for me permanently
2. Increase length of DTMF tones. Phone > Settings > Call > DTMF tones. This did fix the problem for me for manual dialing during a call, but if I have a contact setup to dial a number after a pause it failed half the time. Also this option seems to be locked for Verizon Galaxy S5s, because it does not show up most of the time, I am not sure how I was able to change it, I just played around within the settings and it showed up.

I found solution 2 only last night, before that I spoke to T-Mobile tech support multiple times and didn't get a solution. Finally I spoke to a network engineer with T-Mobile and his explanation was that since the Verizon S5 does not support all the same bands as a T-mobile phone, there is a chance that at home I am in an area which uses an unsupported band and the DTMF tones are not working. I am not sure how accurate that is.

If anyone else has anything to add to this please do since the problem is still there with both my phones.

AFTER getting so aggravated that I couldn't use my phone to make touch tone options on important calls I tried everything I could find to fix this what seems to be small issue. I actually came across the only thing that did work and it is to increase the DTMF. There is no other option or setting for the touch tone during calls.
I am sorry this is not better news, but at least you were correct! And you may turn your keypad tones back on, it doesn't change anything. So glad I'm not the only one this issue was driving totally insane! I guess misery and insanity love company!

Ok you have no idea how much searching I have done trying to fix this silly problem! I couldn't listen to my voicemail or even call samsung because they make the caller dial a number from the keypad during calls! I had to use a different phone to do so. I had tried a few things. I cleared the cache partition, then I tried turning off the keypad tones. And finally increasing the length of the DTMF tones worked! I have had my phone since January of 2015 and this problem just arose out of the blue. It is a Verizon factory unlocked phone and I am with MetroPcs/T-Mobile network. I can't thank you enough for the help because Samsung wanted me to send in my phone for repairs which I was not looking forward to doing! Thanks again!!!!!!!!

having the same problem over here with my s5 from verizon. i fixed it using your 2nd option. thanks very much.
i found DTMF tones under CONTACTS/settings/calls.
if you go directly to settings/call the option doesn't appear at least in my case.

I saw this on another post and it works. Go into Settings, select Applications and select Contacts. Then select Contacts to Display. Temporarily turn off Contacts by selecting Customized List. Now try the Keypad with voicemail. It worked for me. Then I restored contacts and once again the Keypad works with voicemail.
