Why is my galaxy tab a using 15.3of 16.0 gb for operating system

I have deleted cashe and data from all unused apps to make room for update i use my lg stylo 3 hot spot for the tablet is there anything i can do to make room without unrooting it?

I merged the threads. My response to your previous post still stands -- show us a screenshot of the Storage menu.

I recently saw another post with similar storage stats that didn't make much sense, and it was also from a Samsung device that was using Clean Master to "power" the Device Maintenance app. Try installing DiskUsage and see if that gives more accurate information.

Ok, that makes a bit more sense. It's showing that of the 16 GB of internal storage that your tablet comes with, only 10.6 GB is available to the user (the other 5.4 GB are taken up by the OS and by preinstalled bloatware). Of that 10.6 GB, 3.32 GB are taken up by apps (including app data), and 5.92 GB are taken up by media files (photos, videos, music). These aren't necessarily files that you manually downloaded -- it might be cached data from your Google Photos or Google Play Music app, for example. 1.29 GB of that 5.92 GB of media is listed as "Downloaded," suggesting that you had downloaded at least some of it from the web.

Check the Download directory to see if you have a lot of media files there. Also, open your various media apps (like Google Play Music, YouTube, etc.) and look in their settings for an option to clear the cache. You can also go to Settings>Apps, select those apps, and clear the cache there as well. You can also clear data, but this will remove your account from the app as well -- you can always log back in, but any data from the app you might have saved would be wiped out.

I sure appreciate your help and patience im not very tech savy with all this smart stuff but i can tear your transmission apart and make it work better than it did lol. Do you think i should just get another tablet with more internal memory? Thanks again

The problem is that there actually aren't that many good affordable tablets out there with more than 16 GB, but yes, that would be a good idea if you want to keep a good number of apps installed on the device. For now, I would go through your app list on your current tablet and uninstall any apps you hardly use, then see how much space you recover.

And I think fixing a transmission is much more impressive than any of the stuff we talk about here.;)

You was exactly right i finally found a bunch of downloads over 80 of them lot of them were 83 m bthat took it down to around 13.4 enough to install oreo update lot of them were service manuals is there a way to download them go google photos? I cant thank you enough i even got speed back

You could use Google Drive to store stuff, your Google account comes with 15 GB of space for free.
