Why is my LG V10 experiencing mobile network signal problems?

Hi all. I recently bought a used LG V10, and from the first day I've noticed that it's giving weaker than usual signals. For example, 2 or on average 3 bars out of a possible 5. Sometimes dropping to zero. Using another carrier, I've noticed the signals get ever weaker. Currently the V10 is running Marshmallow 6.0. What I'm confused about is, is this a software issue or a hardware one, in which case I'll attempt to get it returned? Is this sometime I could fix myself?

Can you give us some more information?
Like what carrier, where are you located (generally).
Where I live in the big cities all carriers are more or less the same and I have good to great coverage.
Head out on the road away from Phoenix AZ and only Verizon and AT&T are good. In my home (in a smaller urban pit stop) Sprint sucked. But when I walked 1/2 a block north, the signal was very good.
For me the V10 has good signal on Verizon in my area.
(Your mileage may vary).

Lateck,

I noticed my AT&T one has a more poor signal than my Lumia 950 XL I switched from. it had near full service most of the time. Now I have 1 bar most of the time. 2 bars sometimes.

Unless i'm crazy, which is very possible, I think the phone manufacturer sets what the bars show. So for example, a Nokia could show 5 bars when you, let's say, have 70-100% signal strength, but LG may only show 5 bars when the signal is at 90% strength.

i have been having issues lately where my v10 losses cell signal after sleeping for a while if wifi is also on.. only way to fix is to toggle airplane mode off/on
