Why is my memory is showing as a negative after updating S9 to Pie?

My galaxy s9 updated to Pie and shortly after (not immediately) my memory is showing as a negative. Photo gallery is empty, new photos won't save, can't download from Google play, etc. Anyone else have this problem?

Corrupted install? Sounds like it. First I've heard.

Backed up? Photos should be on Sammy and or Google cloud. Pull the trigger, go for factory reset.

I think I might be describing incorrectly. On device maintenance, it shows I have about 2g space left. In My Files, internal storage is what's showing as negative with -29.68 GB free.

Yes, I think the storage directory is corrupt. One sure fix is to erase all data.

You could try the two step:
Shutdown and clear cache partition, always good after major update.
Boot in Safe Mode.

Got any 3rd party storage managers?
Apps that need uninstall and reinstall to deal with Pie?

Maybe after safe boot it'll register properly.
