So I upgraded from S8 which used 5g data, but my s10+ use LTE? in the mobile networks settings there is no option to change which type of data I can use. Does s10+ only use LTE data type?

Model is SM-G975U1

Welcome to Android Central! Which carrier are you on?

I don't believe that model supports 5G. Are you talking about "5Ge" on AT&T (which is simply their rebranded 4G LTE)?

EDIT: Sorry, I just looked at your image -- so I see that you do have AT&T. Your S8 was likely showing 5Ge (since the S8 didn't support true 5G) -- as I mentioned above, 5Ge is just AT&T's 4G LTE. The S8 probably showed 5Ge in the status bar because it had the AT&T firmware (I'm presuming). But since your S10+ is the unlocked variant, and not the AT&T variant, its firmware doesn't know to show the 4G icon as 5Ge.

Hi , welcome to AC!

The Samsung s8 can't connect to 5g , what you probably seen 5e wich was Att fake 5g or more like enhanced 4g lte . Same with the s10+ unless u got the 5g version.

On Att you need to be on their upper scale plan to access 5G and also need to be in the area it has it , it won't be everywhere.
