Why is my note 4 not working after factory reset?

I bought a note 4 from a guy. He hit factory reset to get rid of all his stuff that was on the phone. Now the phone is stuck on a black screen with a green robot and says installing system updates. Its been this way for over a day now. Can anyone please help me out on this? Thanks so much.

Power it off then clear memory and start again.

Also, did the original owner remove his Google account first? If not, then you'll need his Google account info to get into the phone, assuming you get it to finish booting.
