Why is my Note 5 not connecting to Windows 10 laptop?

[Android Central Question]

No error message; it only charges. My Note 10+ connects fine to same laptop. MTP is selected on Note 5; I have tried multiple USB cables. The Note 5 is not active on mobile network, it is the first time I've powered it up in years.

Sorry for the delay I was unable to reset my password to this site, for an account from a few years ago.

I do not see the USB notification, nor do I see USB menu to pop up.

Does this have anything to do with not being logged into a Google account?

Hi, make sure your using good quality cables

I have a bunch of so-so quality cords; but, I found one that works, even though it is in rough shape! I had tried about 4 other cords in better shape. thanks much!

I had that issue on my s22U ..2 USB c cables low quality then I grab a known good one and worked so don't overlook this
