Android Central Question

I was trying to check my voicemail, so scrolled to my own contact and clicked it. instead of it displaying my actual 10 digit number, it was showing a completely unknown 9 digit number under my name.

i managed to copy the number down. when i went back later, the number under my name had changed back to the usual 10 digit one. I called and texted the 9 digit number and got a strange enough error message both times, but the numbers did work. any idea what the hell thats about?

Welcome to Android Central! Are you using a VoIP service like Google Voice?

Probably just some glitch -- it seems unlikely that the 9 digit number would've been a phone number, since it's normally 10 digits. Where did you tap your own contact -- in the Contacts app, or the Messages app?

tapped it in the contacts app. heres a double weird thing, some calls have lost quality lately. a few friends have gotten robo calls when i call them, thats def out of the ordinary. the phone acts up too. ive lost a few texts. ones i never wouldve deleted. one for work that almost cost me my employment. ive missed texts too, incoming anyway.
