Why is my phone not asking for the password

When I open my phone it doesn't ask for the password and it just unlocks with no security , and anybody can unlock my phone

Did you set a password or pin or any type of security when you first booted the phone up?
I have an old tablet that only has Spotify on it to stream music In the house. When I reset it I chose to not add any security as it never leaves the living room.
Tell us what phone and os it's running and someone here can walk you through setting up a pin, password, pattern or even biometric security.

Welcome to Android Central! Also, do you have Smart Lock turned on, such that it will remain unlocked in certain locations, or when connected to certain Bluetooth devices?

What's the time interval set for Automatically Locking?
