Why is my phone receiving texts in 11 digits?

YES my phone just started doing the same thing this morning! I just bought the new Samsung Galaxy S6 yesterday and believed it was a problem with the new phone/caused when I linked my facebook contacts w my phone contacts.....It's good to know I'm not the only one and this is a recent issue... but AGH. IT'S SO AGGRAVATING. :'-\

I'm having same issue I have the Samsung Galaxy S5 Active with AT&T, and it doing it with all numbers on mine. Just started this morning, yesterday I was texting fine until around 12:30 ish AM

yeah im glad i finally found something on the issue i actually just registered to follow the thread cause ive been looking for over an hour trying to figure out a fix lol

Why are text message replies in a separate conversation?

I have a Galaxy Note 2 with Android 4.4.2. Starting this morning, when I receive a text message reply from someone, the phones starts a new conversation. I have read where people have this issue with group message replies but this is from individuals. I can send a text under the original conversation and it comes back under a new (separate) conversation. Anyone else ever had this or know how to fix it?

Started between last night and this morning. Same problem as everyone else is describing, Incoming texts come in as 11 digit numbers and in order to reply (and not receive a n error) I must text my original contact. So conversations now span 2 different "contacts".

I have a Note 4 with at&t and this started this morning. It is happening with several contacts with different carriers. My parents have note 4 and they use US Cingular, my boyfriend has a iPhone 6 with Verizon and my best friend has a galaxy s5 with sprint and they are all coming back with the 11.

Same problem here with my Note 4. I did notice there was a software update for the phone too. Not sure if the software update just came about this morning or before but trying that to see what happens after it updates.

Same issue here with my AT&T Samsung Note. It started this morning. Annoying!

keeps putting an extra 1 infront of my phone numbers

When someone responds to a text message, it will add an extra "1" to the front of the number. Which makes them come through as a new conversation but I am not able to respond because there are to many numbers now. I have to go in and start a whole new conversation every time.

Mine started this morning as well. I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 3. I am on the AT&T network...but NO know updates were performed.

I am having the same problem (I have a Galaxy Mini)...just started today. Some incoming messages are from friends that have been contacts forever and messaging is not recognizing them. And when I try to reply the incoming message phone # has an extra 1 so it is not sending. I am so confused.....this has just started.

Same thing is happening with me. Some peoples responses appearing in a new text thread, others I just simply cannot text without getting error message.

Edit:

Seems to only be happening ATT (myself) to Verizon
ATT to ATT is working fine.

AT&T on S4 with Lollipop update a couple of days ago, but the update is not likely the cause. I can't find a place at AT&T to report the issue online and I'm not going to wait hours to get through their phone lines...
