Why is my phone sending more data then it receives?

Avast SecureLine advises HTC one m8 is sending more data (630k) than it's receiving (388k). Should I be concerned?

I wouldn't. The sending might be data packets to HTC, Google, etc where there is no echo or return data needed.

You send an AJAX request to a website - it's 2000 bytes long. You get 3 bytes back. Normal. You send a bug dump to an app developer. It's 100k. You get back a 10 byte acknowledgement. Things like that are normal.

It can also be a virus, sending someone your entire contact list. That's why Avast triggers on it. It could be a problem, but it's not an indication that there is one. (Ride on a flat tire or on a crushed rock road and you get the same feeling, but only one of them is a problem.)
