Why is my screen black, LED stays constant and dings

My S6 all of a sudden starts making a intermittent dinging sound and the screen is black and the LED stays on.

Welcome to Android Central! Try forcing a shutdown by pressing and holding Power and Vol Down for about 15 seconds. Does the LED go off? If so, wait a few seconds, then power on again normally.
