Android Central Question

So, at random times, my phone will darken to a orangish tint and stay that way till early the next day. I just want to get this out of the way early: it is NOT a blur light filter issue because I can darken the screen further if I turn the blue light feature on. I just want to be able to use my clear and bright phone again.

I don't want to lose any information to this issue. I'd rather avoid putting my phone in any odd modes because one of my phones prior had its gallery wiped when I put it into a safe mode

I can't say why your gallery got wiped in Safe Mode, but that shouldn't happen. All Safe Mode does is temporarily disable any 3rd party apps, which then get reenabled when you boot back into normal mode. A gallery app also doesn't store the actual photos -- the photo files are stored in a separate directory (typically /DCIM/Camera, if they were taken by the camera app), and the system builds a gallery database of all images saved to the phone's storage. If this database is cleared, then opening the gallery app again should prompt the database to be rebuilt.

In addition, if those photos are important to you, this is a good opportunity to make sure they're backed up somewhere, either to a physical drive (i.e., on your computer), or in the cloud (e.g., Google Photos).

I do appreciate the advice, and this time I do have my photos backed up onto a hard drive. The last time that it was done this way, it was a family member doing most of the final work. So its possible that I don't/didn't understand the entire situation.
