Why is my software update taking so long?

I have a galaxy s6 and it needed a software update this morning. It installed and then needed to restart. It began this process at 9am this morning and it is now 11.30. Nothing i do or press changes the black screen with samsung logo flashing on and off. I have work to do and need my phone. Never again will i purchse an android product.

Welcome to Android Central! Try forcing a shutdown by pressing and holding Power and Vol Down for about 20 seconds. Then see if you can boot into Recovery and wipe the cache partition: https://support.t-mobile.com/docs/DOC-29236

I wouldn't equate Samsung with all of Android. There are many different manufacturers, and some have better track records than others when it comes to updates. Phones made by Google (i.e., Pixel or Nexus phones) are the most reliable when it comes to updates.
