Why is my storage being occupied by ghost files?

Hey I joined the forum to ask this, so apologies if this is in the wrong place (please redirect)

I have deleted nearly everything from my device and my device still says I only have around 8 gig of space, both file manager systems confirm I'm only using about 10 gig of space, yet somehow I still have much less space than I should have, with ghost "stuff" taking up space. I have a screenshot which shows this strange phenomenon. As you can see, the "main page" has "others" taking up 30 gig of space (previously it said photos and videos were taking up 18g and 18g each, even though I had deleted ALL photos and vids............ so the ghost files have clearly "moved" from photos/vids to "others", I don't understand how others can take up 30gig when clearly the detailed analysis shows I'm only using about 10 gig of space on my hardrive

Hi, if those files that have zero percent next to them are empty just delete them and restart your phone and check storage again , could be from transfer from another phone to this or factory reset and populating everything again. Which phone you using by the way?

I'm using a xiaomi6, no those files that have 0% next to them aren't empty. They cleat say they are however kb big 11b or whatever. I would imagine they say 0% because to two decimal places they are rounded down to 0.00 percent becase they don't occupy 0.005 percent of total storage.

I don't see how that would solve the problem of having used 13g of 65l0 and having only 8 free space left.... Those files are like less than a kb

Yes , I see your point
I'm not sure why it comes up like that , have you tried restarting the device ?

Yes of course, I've restarted and also run several different hard drive cleaning programs, reinstalled a new rom, deleted caches etcetc no use. The only thing I haven't done is a factory reset which I REALLY don't wanna do

How about safe mode ?
Reinstall ROM is like factory reset

Don't think I know how to start in safe mode, it certainly isn't an option in my handsets "BIOS"
