Why is my storage so full?

Hello,

I've had my Samsung Galaxy S7 for a little over 2 years now and in the past couple weeks I've been having storage issues. I have 32 GB on my phone right now, with 31.6 GB of space taken up. In the User Data details it says I have 0 MB of Documents, 80.5 MB of Images, 354 KB of Audio, 1.3 GB of Video, and 2.9 GB of Apps. Add it all up and it's just over 4.1 GB. So my question is what is taking up the other 27.5 GB? That seems like a lot of memory to just be gone with no explanation. Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks!

A portion of that could be cache and other temporary files, like thumbnails. Try clearing that.

I went through and cleared the caches of most of the apps on my phone and got a little bit of space, but not much. Most apps only had about 15 KB in cached memory each. That definitely wasn't the main source of memory. Thanks for your suggestion!

Something is really sucking up the space here. There are apps in the play store that you can use to find space hogs - if it were me, that's what I would try next.
