Why is mySamsung Galaxy Note 8 AT&T freeze when I try to go back to full screen from split screen

Since the recent update, every time I attempt to go from using a split screen with two apps on back to one of the apps available, my screen freezes and I have to reboot. This was not an issue before the update. Can I fix it so that it no longer happens?
