Why is phone Internal Storage showing almost full(186Mb free of 10.3Gb) in Windows file manager ??

[Android Central Question]

When I look at 'properties' of each folder and file and add them all up the total comes to about 383Mb - a far cry from the 10+ Gb I should have. I have 'show hidden files' enabled in file manager. This could be the reason that my phone is so slow - I have deleted everything I possibly can - all photos/videos are on the SD card - HEEEELP...
Is the 10.3Gb of Internal Storage available to the user or does it have system software within that figure? Help welcomed..... )

Welcome to Android Central! Better yet, show us a screenshot of the Settings>Storage menu: http://forums.androidcentral.com/ge...ide-how-post-screenshots-android-central.html. You'll have to register first.

You won't be able to see every single folder using either the Windows File Explorer interface or a file manager app, since neither will show system folders and actual app files.
