Why is the app icon badge number for Snapchat not appearing ?

I have a Samsung S8 that was recently updated to the new 8.0.0 version. I never enabled the notifications on my Snapchat, but I used to be able to see the red badge with a number on the right corner of the Snapchat Icon.

Now with the new update, if my notifications are disabled, I can't see the number. Any way to change that? I'd like to not have the notification, but still, have the badge appear on the app icon.
