Why is the buzz so low?

Well not anymore, seems interest has picked up quite a bit. The thread is buzzing now. :)

I looked at the phone last night. I'm not that hyped about it. A few of the new features are not improvements for me.

Not being argumentative.
There is nothing to be excited about. Is there anything they come really do that would wow us? 5g, better display, better battery better UI? They would have to make massive changes to really make an impact, hell they could skip a year and no one would really notice as the 8 and 9 series are so good. Every phone company it starting to hit the peak.

What would get me going is a serious camera upgrade, much better battery performance (not just a bigger battery), a non glass back and a flat screen. I like what Samsung is doing since nougat with the software as it just keeps getting better.
Yes the new features added don't interest me. 5G does. I wonder if the 5G variant will cost 2 grand? I'm not doing THAT.

I feel some are excited but less people (I believe) are upgrading year after year especially with these prices.

Well I reserved one but have not pre-ordered yet. I have an S8+ and really did not see anything on the s10 line that was such a drastic change or that I personally am excited about. I know the cameras are the first obvious difference but that is not important to me. I compared the S8+ and the S10+ on phone arena and there really was nothing all that new or innovative. I think I will wait for the Note 10 or S11 to see if any real changes are made.

No but I assume it soon will be. When I bought tbolt not much 4g either. Plenty after a few months.

Found this info from an article posted last month about timelines for carriers and 5G
Verizon will have it in the first half of 2019
AT&T will have it in the second half of 2019
T-Mobile will have it by 2020
Sprint will have it in the first half of 2019

Keep in mind that's when they plan to "launch" it, it doesn't necessarily mean it's going to be available everywhere at that time.

The point is if I spend over a grand on a new phone I will keep it a couple of years and so I don't want to buy the last big phone that lacks 5G. My guess is sale price will plummet as soon as people are familiar with 5g. even in cities that don't have it yet.

I am thinking of ordering but I am wondering whether it is worth getting rid of my s9+. First off, there doesn't really seem to be much of anything new about the camera. They made some comments in the presentation but didn't say anything about upgraded hardware or software.

The fingerprint scanner is all fine and dandy but isn't really going to make a difference in the way I use my phone. Lack of a notification LED is a big deal for me and nearly a deal breaker.

Right now I'm 50/50 on this whole thing. My tech love wants to buy but practicality moves me back in the other direction. Don't know where I'm going to land.

I LOVE Samsung phones, and haven't any bad experiences with any of mine. I'm excited, just because I love tech. But I was seriously considering keeping my s9+, until I saw the specs. The s10+ is the phone I wanted...last year. I may keep the s10+ for two years, instead of upgrading next year. I'm completely enamored with Samsung Pay...I hardly use my wallet. Until Samsung Pay is available on non-Samsung devices, I don't think I'd consider leaving the brand.

I just want the best battery life, timely updates (because flagship devices should have timely updates), and faster charging.

Hows your battery life on your S8+? Curious because I'd like to know how much to expect my brand new S10+ will last in that department.

My battery life is great on my S8+. I can answer emails, text, and do a little web surfing all day and still have plenty of battery left. If I watch a movie or tv show I do notice some additional battery drain but not too much that I am concerned.

How long have you had the phone? Thats good to know! I'm hoping my battery won't degrade quickly and give me at least 2+ years of use. Thats all I ask since it will be my first sealed battery phone.

I have had the phone since April 2017. The battery does not seem to degrade very much. Seems like Samsung made some battery improvements, before my S8+ I had an S5 and the battery would only last about half the time after 13 months. The only good thing was those batteries were much easier to replace.

My last Samsung device was an S3 (lol!) so I've been reluctant this far to have devices with removable batteries. My current device is a LG V20. Since I know that most flagship devices don't have that feature any longer, I'm hoping that I get at least 2+ years min. of good use out of it. If not, I'm going to be highly annoyed!
