Why is the HTC Sync Manager duplicates photos from HTC One in iPhoto when Syncing?

HTC Sync Manager duplicates photos from HTC One in iPhoto when Syncing.

Hi All: I recently bought a new Macbook Air and love the machine running Mavericks. However, it now seems that when I use HTC Sync Manager to sync my photos with my HTC One phone, two issues occur:

1) It often doesn't seem to recognize my phone is connected even though it says it is. So I have to unplug the phone and restart HTC Sync Manager again. Sometimes several times before it recognizes it.
2) Each time I sync it the HTC Sync Manager duplicates my photos in iPhoto. WTF is that??? So I have to go into iPhoto and delete all the dupes.

Come on HTC Sync Manager. Please fix this issue !!!! I'm a programmer and this is not rocket science.

Does anyone have a solution please?

No solution. I can just tell you that when I used to use HTC Sync Manager for my music, it would endlessly recreate playlists (adding 1 2 3 extensions) whenever I tried to sync with ITunes. I gave up and went to a different program. It did not duplicate the songs themselves though. I don't think much of the program... there are good ones for Android that have more ability for music but I don't know about photos;
