Why is the maximum mms that can be sent over stock 300kb?

I'm very curious the work around to this besides saving it in my gallery and resending it compressed. I can't forward mms images received from iPhones since they send much bigger images (800kb) Is the stock text app just crippled? If so whats better that will fix this and still be capable of the group mms feature with ease the way the stock text app does it.

I don't know. I have att. They don't restrict the iPhone and I have the developers edition on top of that. So that restriction wouldn't be embedded into the settings under mms which it is. 300kb is ridiculous. If this is an AT&T thing that's very odd considering the restriction does not exist with the iPhone.

yes It is a carrier restriction. ATT used to be 600kb. Not sure if they made it smaller.

Odd. Like I said att does not restrict an iPhone mms. Not counting iMessage. I'm consistently receiving over 700kb images from my friends att iPhones through mms.

This is due to the mms going through APPLE servers instead of the normal ATT mms gateway

Have you tried using something like GoSMS instead of stock? I believe it can go much higher..well at least in the settings anyway

He can change the settings to what ever he wants but the carrier restriction will not send anything bigger

No the settings only go to 300k in my phone. The only options listed are 100k, 200k, 300k. Big fail by att.

That's only when using iMessage. iMessage can not be used when texting non iOS devices.

I agree. Gosms advertises 10mb so ill give it a shot. My only question is how do I disable the stock message app. It's greyed out as if it can not be disabled.

Just about Everything with IOS goes to apple servers first. This is so they can keep complete control.

You would need root to disable it. Give it a shot but you will find that it either will not send or will not be delivered.

Have worked for ATT for many years as a level 3 Tech support.

As he said the carrier will only allow so big... I increase mine on Sprint and they say no limit.. But I set to 1MB and seem to be fine.

Doesn't matter. Just checked gosms out on the htc one, and it's pure junk. The black bar is at the bottom which makes the keyboard ride higher like many apps (facebook), but renders it basically useless, which really is my only true complaint about this phone and feel like it might cut my time short eventually with it. Considering it's a big complaint that even effects some games, go figure. Lastly why doesn't att allow the disable of the stock text app. Is it like this with all android os phones on their carrier. I know that other carriers like sprint for example do not do this. And I do not think this is the case with the nexus 4 on att but I could be wrong. My friend has a nexus 4 on att and has the stock message app disabled. I don'tbelieve his phone'srooted but ill ask him.

Strange so many only have 300k. I sent a video to the wife earlier today and it said 201KB/1000KB

edit: recomposed the same MMS and took screenshot. I did not change any phone settings to get this larger file allowance and using stock Messages app. Perhaps it's market driven?

Mine are the same as above and have mine set to 1000K. I am in Silicon Valley.

Ok so can any one help because its seeming like more and more this is a dev edition thing then. I called htc and they didn't know. Amazing.

It is a DE limitation even if you are using it on AT&Ts network.
