Why is the Moto X I am trying to buy selling for $100 extra?

Buying the Moto X

I know there are probably other posts similar to this, but I couldn't find any. I'm trying to purchase the new Moto X (starting at $399) on Moto's website and built a 32 GB, leather cognac Moto X for $474.99 but when I go to purchase the phone, the price jumps to $574.99. Where does the extra $100 come from? Is there a typo on the starting price of $399 on the Moto website? I'm probably missing something but thought I'd ask anyway.

$399.99 is the base price for the Republic Wireless version.

Moto's website has it as "Starting From" $399.00. As far as I'm aware, the only version of the Moto X that starts at $399.00 is the Republic Wireless version that you get off contract. Otherwise, the starting price for a regular unlocked or off-contract carrier version is still $499.

Are you trying to purchase the Pure Edition? If so, that's probably it. That's what I currently have, 32GB unlocked, and the end total with taxes was about $575.
