Why is the Note 7 in such huge demand?

Because its better than Note 5 genuinely, its better than iPhone this year surprisingly, and its just the best this year coincidentally. Next year, who knows?!

I've been trying to wonder why the demand is so high for it. I have not seen a lot of media hype or advertising for it like you do for the Iphones. I know this is one of the best devices ever for Android maybe rivaling the Note 4, but I'm trying to figure out why it's selling so hot despite not a ton of advertising for it.

I'm wondering if many of them are Note 4 users wanting to upgrade due to the removable SD card on it and larger battery than the Note 4 with many maybe skipping the Note 5 due to no IR blaster and no external memory.

Demand for the note is not high.

Very few will choose to spend that much on a phone.

Samsungs and other manufacturers lower end phones will sell in much, much larger numbers.

I don't quite understand the surprise at the cost of this phone. Last year I got the 64gb Note 5 on ATT and it was more than $850.

Forced obsolescence by the carriers and device manufacturers...
Batteries are dead
Software is getting out-dated
Glass is broken
USB-B connector is worn out

It is a pretty unique phone though, with the S-pen and water-splash resistance. A really good multi-tasking beast. It further pushes the cell phone envelope firmly into tablet computing capability.

Lots of iPhone 6P and 6SP refugees.... I know, I am one of them.

Once rumors solidified that Apple was switching to a Tick-Toc-Toc cycle.... and iOS 10's underwhelming experience, it made the Note 7 a very very attractive handset.

My guess - people know of the Galaxy phones. Brands matter to people and Samsung is right up there with Apple. They both make excellent phones that historically have been marketed well. Just because you're not seeing ads for it doesn't mean (mainstream) people don't know.

It's not about specs. It's not about external memory. It's not about IR blasters (lol).

Simple. Why are iPhones in demand? People like them.

Same with the note :).

If you think iPhones are status symbols, Samsung's Galaxy S and Note lines are status symbols as well.

Holy crap...I've seen a TON of advertisements on multiple channels and during the Olympics, they have very long commercials, one that is very funny and long (actor is from Inglorious Bastards..forget his name). I think it has been hyped.

Huh? The WSJ just said that the Note 7 preorders outpaced the Note 5 preorders before it by 20%...That's pretty high demand

The everyday batter life is what scares me a bit. People that haven't used one of the plus iphones. Dont really understand how crazy that battery is.

ogl > cal

I currently have the 6 plus and, for me, the battery life in the last year has really sucked big time.

I think the rumors for the next iPhone are helping to convert some folks to the Note.

I'm living proof of this. No headphone jack? Releasing what is effectively a 6SS? No thanks, I'll do Android for a year. I've always wanted to check out the Notes. The Note 4 with it's faux-leather back was what sparked my interest, actually. Wish I could find a similar case for this one.

I believe last year it was possible to get a Note 5 on AT&T for about $750 so we are talking a jump there. Granted the memory was probably 32GB but it was the option at the time but it was still the choice to get into a Note cheap. And the Note 4 was cheaper depending on carrier when it came out. The Chinese Note 7 6GB ram phone is $1000?! I think I can understand why they're not bringing it here because how many will pay 1K for a Samsung?

For me there is a level where I feel it's too much for "a phone/smartphone."

I'm also a leftover from the subsidized phone pricing days. From iPhone 1, 3gs, 4s, (I just remember I think I paid $300 for the Nexus 4), LG G2 I have never paid more the $199 for a premium phone. I had a G3 last year but was a gift of sorts. Now with the G3 dead and using an iPhone 6 as a loaner, I have accepted that I will have to pay full price for my next phone. I was going to go with One+3 and then ZTE 7 for $400. I mean you can get flagship specs and performance at $400 and not pay S7 Edge prices.

But the Note 7 really got my attention. In past I hate phablets but it's actually dimensionally close to those just mentioned and smaller than the 6 Plus where I thought I could get it with my BB store card and if I paid 12-16 months 0% I could forget the fact it was $850 lol.

Fortunately I just found out a workaround yesterday... Company I work with has AT&T business accounts and they still offer subsidized pricing when we upgrade the work phones and boss is willing to let me use an upgrade and I pay the upgrade price :) So I can probably get a iPhone 6s or LG G5 for $199... but the Note 7 will only cost me $600 this way so I think I will most likely treat myself to a Note 7.

That's iPhone 6 Plus territory if I had to pay full price so I will can accept that.

I think there are probably many like me that don't go through phones so often like many on forums and are having to deal with full price phones. I don't like the next contracts and don't want to lose my unlimited data too.

Don't like BT headsets? I don't mind if they get rid of the jack and ready to go BT. I run about 12 miles a week. ran marathons use BT and I'm done with cords. Be cool if the second set of holes are for a second speaker. Not liking the reviews saying the Note 7 speaker is on the average side of performance.

I see a lot of people with Note devices, mostly Note 4's and Note 5's now. I ask them what do you love most about your Note device. The most common answer I get is "I love the large bright display". This is coming from the average consumer who don't even use the S Pen. The Note series does have the best large display in the market, IMO. Carriers up in Canada always promotes the Note series and people buy them. There's more Samsung users in my area than iPhone users.
But I have been seeing a lot of iPhone users switch over to Android. Also, I think the leaks of the iPhone 7 is also contributing to high demand of the Note 7.

Just wondering, could the high demand is artificial generated by Samsung itself?
Otherwise, Samsung under-estimated the demand?

Just what I was thinking, don't get me wrong, I will get the phone, but I'm prepared to wait until all the fuss has died down, check out the colour options in person, then buy!
