Why is the Note 9 2x camera a lie

[Android Central Question]

In order to use the real 2x camera you have to be in crazy ultra shiny light otherwise the 2x zoom its just digital from the main camera and there is no way to fix that or a setting, imagine samsung lying to their customers selling you photos with less noise but half of the resolution in order to keep the beauty, if you have a Note 9 try covering the main camera with a finger or a piece of tape and toggle between normal zoom and 2x zoom and you will see its just digital zoom since the second camera doesn't switch unless its on parctically direct sunlight , they should let you decide what camera use regardless of the noise cause 2x digital its stupid because easily you could just then take a full picture and then crop it but then the second camera becomes a gimmick.

Have you tried experimenting in manual mode?

Already tried manual mode or the one called pro but i don't even see the option for 2x zoom, in order to zoom the only option its two fingers out on the screen but that again its just digital zoom, also i have tried other Notes 9 and its the same since i thought i had a faulty unit but no its software related issue, i get that samsung wants us to use the better lens for all the photos since has f stops but instead of a 2 times zoom photo you end up with a crop of the original one, also even if you are on bright sun the camera switch back and forth if you move it to your own shadow.
Weird how nobody has notice this issue yet, i did cause i just bough this phone a week ago and did my tests covering the two cameras to see the real differences in quality but 95% of the time you end up with a 2x crop of the main camera but interesting how the data says its still 12 megapixels which is shady since not just is a crop but an interpolated picture.

They’re 3rd party apps that will allow you to choose which camera you want for a pic.
Also, every phone that I’ve seen that offers 2x, will only use the longer camera if the light is good.
Mostly because of the slower lens that they use.

Well i din't knew that since this is my first double camera phone but still is a nonsense because why bother using 2x when like i said you end up with an interpolated crop from the main camera, easily you can just edit it after but they should let us chose that with the warnings of the low light capability of the other lens etc.
Also which app would you recommend that does let you use whatever camera you want to use?

Note 8 and S9+ are the same way, I think the S10 and N10 are as well. It's been covered and mentioned in reviews, I just think the vast majority of people don't care. Personally shooting auto I'm fine with it picking the lens best suited but I wish I could use the 2x camera in pro for RAW capture.

3rd party camera apps allow just that.
