I have been sitting in my office with 3 bars of 3g signal that is constant. However, looking at the attached screen, it seems I am in a "yellow" area. Does 3 bars = yellow? I have not moved the phone for 2.5 hours.

I found this in another thread and it seems to be correct in what each color means.

Verizon has been doing something with 4G today and 3G signal seems to be affected too. I lost both 3G and 4G in areas where I normally have full 4G. So, maybe it is something to do with whatever verizon is doing.

What about the colors in the status bar? I seem to either get blue or gray. Blue=data is connected Gray=no data?

I see that a lot of people are under the impression that gray bars means that you are not connected to google services, this is true but it also means that you are not receiving any data thus you would not be connected with google services either. My GNex and my Droid X will not receive gmail or exchange email or open a webpage when the bars are not blue. Also, anytime I am on CDMA the bars will turn gray when I make a call and return to blue shortly after I hang up. This is because 3g cannot receive data and make calls at the same time. 4G however will remain blue the entire time since the GNex is capable of data and talk simultaneously.
