Why is the sound on my phone coming out the ear piece not the speaker?

As long as your earpiece is connected the sound's will also come out in the earpiece.

the speaker is used for the speak and talk. The earpiece is used to hear the sound. If you can not hear call,pls use another phone to make a call with your phone to check whetehr it is problem of your phone. And then have a maintence on your earpiece.

As Omkel Per said, remove the earpiece. If you get no sound it's either a bad earpiece jack or a bad speaker.
