Why is the Thunderbolt any better than any other droid?

Sorry..your understanding is wrong.
I'll save you the google search.

Incredible using Gorilla Glass? HTC says so... - Android Forums

(Read the whole thing)

Reading the whole thing leads me to believe that no one knows if it is or isn't. Some people comment about how some of their HTC screens are indestructible, some aren't, same is said about their Moto Droids.

Basically, the whole topic leads me to believe that my understanding may be correct. Off-branded Gorilla Glass. Then again, it may be that some were equipped and some were not. They did switch from AMOLED to LCD, after all.

Unless there's something specific you want me to take from that topic...

Only that the Tbolt does not have Gorilla Glass.
It can be tough, it can be great quality, but it's not Gorilla Glass.

There's more than enough rumors and false information about the phone to date, don't need more....

Gorilla glass is actually Corning's thing.. and you can see a list of devices that use it here.
Yes. And, to add... the webpage says: "we can only include a sampling here. Your favorite device may include Gorilla Glass, even if you don?t see it listed. Ask your manufacturer or retailer to learn more."

I'm sure, just as in the pots-n-pans that Corning makes with their own brand as well as other manufacturer's brand, there are also competing smartphone glass making companies. Corning may not necessarily be the best. It's just one of 'em.

I think the whole reason the Gorilla Glass (Corning's) got notoriety was because it shipped on the iPhone. Come to think of it, the way the iPhone got notoriety was because it was sold by Apple. Anyone see a trend here :)

I really don't understand why you absolutely refuse to accept that current information says it's off branded Gorilla Glass.

Opaque Aluminum Silicone Base is a name for a substance that some know as Gorilla Glass. HTC has said that's what's on the phone. Ergo, the phone has off branded Gorilla Glass.

If you have information stating otherwise, please bring it forward. Otherwise I would appreciate you not accusing me of delivering false information.

I have 4, black, round rubber tires on my truck.
Today I'll call them BFGoodrich, tomorrow I'll call them Firestone, the day after Goodyear.
They're all very similar, right?

That's my point.

It's more like saying, today i'll take Motrin... tomorrow ill call it Advil... the next Ibuprofen.

They are the same thing only 2 have a name brand by a different manufacturer. Motrin and Advil are the name brands used for the drug Ibuprofen.

Unless the screen on the TB has the exact same composition as Corning's Gorilla Glass, it'd be more like Tylenol one day, Motrin the next.

Similar products taken for similar issues...but in the end, not the same.

I understand the HTC glass is tough. If someone can irrefutably post it is the same composition as GG, I will respectfully apologize.

But to say something is similar, yet not the same without proof...is basically speculation and misinformation.

Agree with me on this point or not, this phone has had more than enough misinformation about it posted, spoken, printed, etc.

That's my point all along.

Incredable 2

Has anyone looked at the Incredable 2? How it compares with the TB? I know it doesn't have 4G, but if they are going charge a lot for 4G, and you don't live in a large city, you probably won't use it.

I'm sorry, but isn't the whole point of a forum is to discuss opinions? Actually i'll give you the definition because you seem like you don't know it. forum - a public meeting or assembly for open discussion

That is the definition of a forum, yes. There is another word that's used in the Forum Rules & Guidelines Announcement:

Trolling: Do not post inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages to provoke users into responding in a negative way. Calling another member a troll is also a form of trolling.

You can't expect to post this:

So to be totally honest, i've seen the videos on youtube, and the most recent video on the website, and why is the thunderbolt so hyped up? Alright, it's kinda fast and has good camera quality, but so what? It's just like every other droid phone out there. My GF has a MyTouch 4g, i know it's only on T-Mobile and not Verizon, but it's almost exactly the same as the thunderbolt. my sister has the Droid Incredible, and the thunderbolt isn't that much better, i just dont see the fascination with it.

in a forum full of TB fans and expect it not to turn into this at some point:

P.S. - Please only ACTUAL, CONSTRUCTIVE feedback, I'm not looking for some Dbag to call me a noob and act like an a$$h0le.

After your first post, members gave you some positive feedback in posts 2-9. Then in post #10 you are making it clear that you had already made up your mind about the TB to begin with, and then you brought the iPhone into it.

So here's what I would suggest: Don't go to a TB forum, full of TB fans, and expect a good result from a thread you started where you're basically trashing the phone and asking people to prove you are wrong.

Now if it had been put in the Phone Wars forum, like it is now, well we might not be having this conversation.

Oh, and for the rest of you: Debates are cool, personal attacks are NOT.

Several posts are being put into moderation mode, which means they were hidden until I decide what to do with them.
