OP, you should just get an iPhone. I think you'll love it.
Although you may be able to read the definition of a Forum, you don't really understand how they are best used. It wouldn't surprise me to discover that you also started a thread (probably your 1st thread) in apples forum asking, "So what's so great about an iPhone?" You seem like one of those guys that makes friends wherever you go.
I understand your opinions on this, but I don't think they're warranted here. What does "4G" REALLY mean? I don't care what some governing body - whose main goal is to drive innovation - thinks it is. To me, the branding is fair. When 3G launched, it was just fast enough that people REALLY considered browsing the web from their phones. It wasn't ideal, but it worked. Remember, everyone was calling 1xRTT and GSM "3G" back then also, even though they weren't technically "3G". EVDO/HSPA brought a better experience, but didn't fundamentally change things like 1xRTT/GSM did, IMO.That makes this all the more disappointing. If the current versions of LTE, WiMax, and HSPA+ do not match true 4G specifications, ideally the governing body should not have approved them to be branded as 4G.
I suppose this is yet another case where marketing and money bend the rules and trump the truth and integrity, eh?
LOL! Awesome find. Although, I'm sure there are plenty of "moneymike47"s out there. You were close. Game over.

Just click his user name and that says it all.
So do you think an LTE phone bought today will run LTE-Advanced? If your answer is yes, you're a fool and we're done talking. If it's no, which is correct, then ask yourself why in the hell it matters if your phone is using technology x or technology y, both of which bring similar speeds to your phone? That's okay. I cited the actual ITU release instead of a "tech site" nobody has heard of. And reading the release as written shows that they are not calling WiMax or HSPA+ true 4g. They are called forerunner technologies and the release notes that they have been called "4g" - it does not say that the ITU calls them 4g. In fact, it pretty strongly hints that the final IMT-Advanced spec will not include HSPA+ or WiMax.
As to LTE/LTE-Advanced, the jump to LTE-Advanced is not that big to perform, as it is a software enhancement. The hardware is the same for both. VZW is simply waiting for their hardware to be in place and the specification to be finalized to upgrade it. This is one of the advantages to LTE - it has a future roadmap that does not involve new towers/hardware.

There's a sticky in this forum that explains the difference between a few phones, also a simple search would let you know.
""It's just like every other droid phone out there"" shows that you need to do a lot more research.
Why don't you go look it up, your attitude is not good for a first post.
Off the top of my head-
True 4G (not what att, sprint, and t-mobile call 4G)
50% more RAM than most
Much better processor
40GB of storage stock
Sense 2.0
4.3in screen
unlocked bootloader
Updated camera/sensor
rugged kickstand
good speaker
Verizon supported
Al body construction if you care.
Might want to get the os name correct...
I've not seen the Thunderbolt designated as part of the DROID line of verizon phones.
The HTC Thunderbolt will be running the Android OS.
you dont have to be ANAl about it. he just asking a simple question. i myself am very interested in the phone itself in fact i have a BB and trying to figure out if i should switch or stay???? i know just about any phone out there is better than a STORM 1 so im checking my options just dont know about the whole ANDROID OS???? my girl has a old droid arris and we looking at phones for her too........... as he mention he just want to get input basicall from people who might kn ow more about it than him..
DROID is Mottorla's term., but ti doesn't mean you can call other android phones droids since thats pretty much what they are.
and Mike, just get an iPhone. It seems you just want a single phone each year with a single fisher price looking OS with a small baby sized screen that you have to have your hand held when using. Noit sure why you thought it would be funny to come here and cause trouble,
HTC Droid Incredible.
Not a moto term exclusivity. We've had more "droids" from moto than any other manufacturer but it's not exclusive to them. It's a term George Lucas owns and VZW leases it from him. (correct me if I'm wrong)
This is correct VZW uses the Droid term for their higher end phones with the Google integration.

According to BMX, the "Droid" label is assigned to phones that are Verizon exclusives. In other words, phones that aren't available from anyone else.
The Thunderbolt is not one of those phones.
Yeah the whole Gorilla Glass is Samsungs thing. I could be wrong but I believe they have even started using it on some of their TV's.
Gorilla glass is made by Corning and is available to all manufacturers, but HTC tries to imitate the quality of Corning's product with their own scratch resistant product. Unfortunately for anyone who is an HTC device owner. They can tell you that HTC's version is not nearly as high quality as Corning's product. Some current manufacturers that take advantage of Corning Gorilla Glass are Motorola, Samsung, LG, and Sony
