Why is this thing so scratch prone?

Yes it will, on the nexus. One sharp hard aluminumn key drug across that screen it will. That's why people sock them, keep me nice.

Going back to another point in the PSA thread, you and someone else mentioned that the 1.2ghz clock speed was outperforming the 800mhz of the iPhone. Well, it has been evidenced that the xynos proc is better than the galaxy and the 4s proc is much faster that the SG2. Guess clock speed isn't the end all for performance.

I'm not going by just clock speed.

And it won't on the Nexus, I tried going to town on my 2nd one ;). With pressure anything will scratch, but physics has very specific rules for stuff like this. Just b/c someone hates a phone doesn't mean physics are inapplicable to it. Most--if not all--of the reported scratches are probably derived from grit.

Grit is always the main culprit. It will scratch anything. Coral sand from the beach is the king of scratched phones after vacation.

Yes. Not only b/c it's hardness is usually greater than glass, but you can apply more pressure "unwittingly" to grit in a pocket.

Hence my phone sock ;).

Just hope that sock is dope....I picture this old mid calf white sock rocking your nexus:p

I need to get a case I've dropped my GNex about 4 times and I only have 1 super little baby scratch on the bottom on the screen. No screen protector either. I hate 'em.

Otterbox Commuter. That's what I rock, although I may be getting another.

You are taking no chances...awesome.

Nope. Combined with the Otterbox I can throw it on concrete without fear of scratching or breaking.

I"ll add mine to the scratch list. I had my Fascinate for over a year with its Gorilla Glass screen and not a scratch. My Nexus has several find scratches on the screen. They touted that while it wasn't Gorilla glass, that you didn't need that brand name to have good scratch resistant glass. Apparently you do. :(

This is THE most scratch prone phone I have personally ever owned.

I have had two, the first of which I returned because the screen was scratched and cracked just after 8 hours of ownership. The screen is awful, but so is the body. I've BABIED this phone for all of 4 days and there are noticeable scratches on the back case, mostly because of the curved design.

what a headache...

I store my Nexus between my orbital sander and my collection of files and rasps, under a box of old rocks I found at the beach and a can of loose BBs. No scratches yet.
