Google Now not recognizing contacts after Lollipop 5.1 update

Since updating Lollipop to 5.1, Google Now will not recognize contacts with voice. It repeatedly gives me the response, "You don't have contact details for ___." I have deleted and then restored accounts, cleared cache, checked to make sure all settings are correct in Google Now, all to no avail. Anybody have any suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

Miki

Welcome to Android Central! Open the Google Settings app, then Search & Now>Phone search, and make sure Contacts is checked on.

I have the exact same issue. My contacts are checked. Still nothing. Really am not liking 5.0

im having an issue with google now contacts on lolipop too.

I got sick of it asking mobile or home when i try to message or call someone so I have now created to contacts (eg Bob Mobile and xxBob Home - named differently so it doesnt get clever if I try to message Bob) but despite a restart it seems it's not seeing the changes Ive made despite them being reflected in my gmail contacts on my computer.

It's still asking mobile or home for everyone.. frustrating
