Why isn't my dialer app reading contacts?

dialer app not reading contacts

I recently updated my Oneplus One to Lollipop (I'd delayed, having read of problems). Now when I key in a phone number to dial out, the dialer says I have no contacts. All my contacts are right there but only in the Contacts app, and in my Gmail app. I could just access from there, but the reverse is a probelm -- the dialer can't identify any of my contacts calling nin either. I've tried going into the Settings in the Contacts app and exporting some -- still apprently I have no contacts! Any ideas how I can get these parts of my phone to communicate?
I do have all my phone numbers in my Gmail contacts too, but can't see how to sync them with the dialer app.

Welcome to Android Central!

The dialer and the contacts app should be pretty much the same thing. Try booting in to recovery and wiping the partition cache, if that doesn't work try going to the dialer app in your app list and clearing the data from it. That should reset the app and might pull in the info you need when you open it back up.
