why is my mobile data not working?

i have a htc desire and it's new, just bought it a month ago. i have unlimited data, but the retailer said i have "1 GB" of fast internet, the rest is slow. i assumed that after i go over the 1GB, i'd still have internet, but now my mobile data just does not connect at all when i use it. i'm not sure why this is happening and it's quite frustrating.

If "slow" is slow enough, every connection is timing out. All you're given on plans like that is "1GB at 3G (or 4G) speed", the speed after 1GB isn't guaranteed, it could be 110bps. It could even be 1 bit per day - it would still be fulfilling the contract. That's why, other than the grandfathered Verizon unlimited plan, these "unlimited data, XGB at Y speed" are scams. You get XGB, don't count on the rest actually being usable.
