Why isn't Skype official on the TBolt?

I did not realize you Thunderbolt owners weren't given Skype. Do we know why the Thunderbolt doesn't have Skype?

The software just isn't ready yet?
Licensing agreement problem?
Verizon just being lame?

I am concerned because I know someone that wants the Incredible 2, and she uses Skype a lot. I don't want to run into the same problem with her.

Thanks.

The Skype with Video software isn't ready yet, but it should be close. The unofficial version that started circulating yesterday is likely a test version. It's buggy for some folks, but when it works it seems to work well. Give them a little more time to polish up those bugs and you should end up with a solid product.

When I got my phone on launch day there was an HTC rep in store. While waiting around for a salesperson, I asked him some questions. One of them was what happened with Skype. He said it was a licensing issue. He was young and pretty enthusiastic so I figured he was maybe more inclined to be "in the know", but judging from this leak, it seems that maybe he was wrong. This leak obviously needs some work so if it was a licensing issue you would think the leaked version would be solid, no? Unless this leaked version is just an older version of the finished product...But that just doesn't add up either.

The way I see it the skype problems were what delayed the launch. Finally Verizon took it off altogether saying it will be available soon. Tango didn't work until they did something and updated the app. Now it works enough that you can understand the person you are talking to, provided you are wearing earphones with mic.
I think some of the problems are with the camera/mic situation that HTC said will be fixed soon on an OTA update.
