why my camera folder is empty in samsung s 3

I lost all my photos from camera folder suddenly. I tried to recover and restore but was unable to retrieve except fro deleted photos. if it was deleted then it would have been retrieved. but its disappeared.. plz help me in this I have very important photos related to work
