Android Central Question

My Galaxy Watch problem is, it will automatic play Spotify music after I end my phone call when I have use my Galaxy Watch listen Spotify music. Even I have stop listening, but everytime when I end my phone call, it will automatic play.

I moved this to the Galaxy Watch forum for more specific traffic.

It's a widely know and experienced bug that has been an issue for a very, very long time. Yet, nothing has been done about it. Raise the issue with Samsung support and they will refer you to Spotify. Raise the issue with Spotify support and they will probably ignore you. Absolutely maddening that something so obviously broken is allowed to perpetuate.

Ya. And it is a Spotify issue since they make the app. I use Tidal (higher quality and nice Veterans discount) with no issues.

This issue is driving me nuts. Sometimes it's fine and others it's a constant pain until i quite the app and cycle power saving.

Best fix is turn the volume down on Spotify when you are done to zero/ mute. Then when the bug occurs it will still play music but SILENTLY. Once you've done this, if you only then use Bluetooth headphones to listen to Spotify, it will revert to zero/ mute when you disconnect headphones.
Then when you reconnect headphones, it will auto increase the volume for you. And again when you disconnect, back to zero.
Just remember to check music isn't playing silently after a call at some point and shut it off so not wasting battery.
Not a perfect solution, but a practical one which will never embarrass you in a board meeting!

I have switched to the galaxy s9 from iphone. This was never a problem with the iphone as it didn't allow calls to be piped through to the watch. It's a crazy problem and desperately annoying. For now I have uninstalled spotify and will try a reload, but it's surprising that samsung/spotify haven't resolved it yet.

Oddly I didn't have this issue when I first got the watch. I had issues with a bluetooth headset not activating when turned on (so I had to go through the watch menus to activate it). After sorting this the issue appeared and has never gone away.

As has been mentioned, this is a well-known and ubiquitous bug which will probably never be fixed. There are several easy workarounds, some of which have already been mentioned here. Another way to avoid the issue is to connect to Bluetooth when you're done streaming LTE, open the Spotify app, and skip to the next track. It will not be able to cache that track (since for some reason Spotify won't stream via Bluetooth), and the next time your Galaxy Watch accesses your speaker, it will try to play music but there won't be anything to play.

Maybe some day Spotify or Samsung will fix this...but most likely not.

The Spotify playing after phone call bug seems now to have been fixed with the latest Samsung firmware update, regardless of how you've had the volume set and even if you've played music through the watch speaker and taken a call with the watch speaker. I've had a number of calls today and no issues with Spotify playing afterwards.

Hi guys, I found a fix here. Try this step. Open Spotify on the phone > go to settings > tap on Connect to a device > Tap on listen on this phone.

We it does seem Samsung have fixed the music playing after call issue. Unfortunately in doing so they have created another issue. I was using the lower normal volume fix, so thought my problem may be linked to this. After reading about the fix I turned normal volume up to test and the call issue does appear to have gone, my other issue however remains.

When running the Samsung app gives updates every km (which still includes average pace per km when it really means pace for last km). While giving the info it pauses music. Unfortunately, it now doesn’t start the music again after the update. Every km I have faff around restarting the music.

Well done Samsung and after all these years I finally have a reason to use this:
