Why my phone is getting unlocked by swiping when i set it to get unlocked using a pin code?

I have secured the phone with pin code but each time i lock it and then press the home button a lock icon appears on the screen and device gets unlocked by swiping. It doesnot ask me to enter code rather it just ger unlocked by swiping. How can i fix it?

Welcome to the forums. Does the same happen if you leave the phone unattended for a long time? Do you have any Smart Lock option enabled in your security settings?
