Why my Samsung J1 2016 shows a "dead screen" when I turned it on?

[Android Central Question]

I was updating my google apps when it suddenly shuts down at 40%. I tried to press the power button and down volume button and the recovery screen pops up but then goes black again. I tried also to only press the power button and somehow it shows the logo but goes in black screen again,the thing is it's already active as I randomly open the screen but it always goes back to black. What should I do and how will I know that it was already drained??

Welcome to Android Central! Let it charge on a wall outlet undisturbed for at least 6 hours. Then press and hold Power for about 20 seconds to see if it powers on normally.

Sounds like battery needs replacement.
