Why my screen has a grey "layer" when I turn a video full screen?

So I absolutely can't find this anywhere...
Since the last update to the new Android whenever I watch a video and turn my phone sideways so it rotates and goes full screen a grey layer goes over the video so it becomes kinda blurry colors becoming weaker like if a thin filter would've been there. When the phone is "standing" everything is good it happens only when rotated. I can actually see it appearing as it has a second delay. It happens only with videos but that in every application.

I can't post an answer here... Anyway my phone is Huawei mate9 with the latest emui and Android. Although I have a friend with the same phone also updated but not having the issue.

Welcome to Android Central! Which phone? I recall another similar post about something like this, but not sure if there was a good explanation.

Hey! Thanks for answering!
It's a Huawei mate9 with the latest emui and Android.
But I have a friend with the same phone, same versions not having the problem.

I can't put it in safe mode. I do what they say, restart it, holding down the volume down button but it just starts regularly.

Okay I pushed too soon.
Hard to say without YouTube because the built in player only would play in full screen so I can't actually see it appearing but I'm almost 100% sure it does not happen in safe mode.

I'd start by checking if any apps have permission to draw over other apps, if so turn those off, and see if it goes away.

Well I deleted all apps that's not on my phone since the beginning, and it's still there... Unbelievable.. Guess I'll just stop watching videos...

Since you've already deleted all of your apps, you might as well try a factory reset (after backing up your important data, of course).

Cool so I did that. Of course I forgot to save my contacts and notes so now I lost all of it. But I don't care.
What I care about is that it's still f.... happening.

So I thought I make a screen recording to show how it looks and boom it does not happening when I'm recording a screen video...

I'm gonna have a stroke...

Can you take a video of the phone's screen using another device's camera?

Hmm, really not sure what's going on there. Have you already tried other video players, like MX Player?

it doesn't matter which player I use it happens with every video. the one on the video I shared is YouTube , but it's the same on VLC, mx, bs, and the built-in Huawei stuff. :(

Argh. Is this with streaming video only, or also with locally saved video?

Did you happen to disable Chrome? If so, make sure Android System Webview is enabled and updated in Settings>Apps.

it does it with any kind of online video and with any kind of locally saved videos. maybe not with videos recorded by the phone but not 100% sure because it is automatically fullscreen so I can't really check.

I thing is weird though...if I'm recording my screen as a video and I start watching a YouTube video this "layer" does not appear at all. I mean I'm doing a screen recording with the same phone ,like a screenshot but video.

chrome is enabled.im using that as my browser.this webview stuff I found in the play store with an "enable" button but that does not do anything.
